Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.
But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.
Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’ve actually re-read it this year… Because I’m quite in love with the reality of the story. The way that Bianca feels is (in my opinion because I did) the way that many people feel like. And of course I totally love the character development, how they grow up in every moment and the way that you can feel like they’re part of your life. The first time that I read it I was in a similar moment in my life and this book made me change my point of view.
I have to say, that when I saw it the last year in a bookstore of my town I went insane till I got it. And it was one of the best things that I could ever done.
Since I’ve read it in 2012 it has become in one of my favorite books.
